Béatrice de Larragoïti

Béatrice is the Artistic Director and one of the three founding members of Gothic Opera. She holds a Master of Music and a Postgraduate Artist Diploma from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, as well as Master’s in Literature from the University of Oxford, and degrees in Art History from the Sorbonne University and Ecole du Louvre. Led by curiosity and her field of research to become a keen defender of rarely performed romantic, fantastical and gothic operas, she started to shape the concept whilst performing candlelit “gothic” recitals in singular venues alongside pianist Karl Lutchmayer with the London Month of the Dead Festival.

She has performed on various stages, festivals and concert platforms across Europe, America and the U.K., including Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Grimeborn Festival, Oxford Lieder Festival, Saint-Martin-in-the-Fields, Opéra de Baugé and Opéra en Plein Air. Most recently, Béatrice performed the roles of Ludmila in Smetana’s Bartered Bride and Giannetta in L’Elisir d’amore at Opera de Baugé, where she will be returning in 2025 to sing Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Diane (Orphée aux Enfers, Offenbach). In January 2025, Béatrice joined the chorus of the National Estonian Opera. With Gothic Opera, Béatrice was Janthe in Der Vampyr, Agnès in La Nonne sanglante, the Queen of Elves in Le dernier sorcier, Gretchen in Rip van Winkle and Matilde in Maria de Rudenz.
