Hello, we’re Gothic Opera. We are a female-led company based in London, and we put on award-winning, atmospheric productions of rarely-heard operatic works with supernatural themes.

We produce a flagship production each Halloween, and we always keep ticket prices low. One of our central aims is to open up the art form to those who are not familiar with it.

We are becoming increasingly well known among audiences, critics, and artists, particularly those in the early part of their careers.

Founded by Alice Usher, Béatrice de Larragoïti and Charlotte Osborn, we launched with Der Vampyr in 2019, becoming a registered charity in 2020. The founders were joined by producer Helene Mathiesen in 2023 as the company continues to grow. 

Gothic Opera’s Halloween 2021 opera La Nonne sanglante (The Bloody Nun) was the winner of the Opera Production category in the Off-West End Awards. Browse all our productions here.
