Gothic Opera launched in October 2019 with an irreverent and timely retelling of the opera Der Vampyr by Marschner, which is based on Polidori’s nineteenth-century story The Vampyre. The critically-acclaimed production was told through the lens of consent and agency.

“All credit to Gothic Opera for staging this rarely performed opera with such palpable enthusiasm and (despite the work’s subject matter) joy. It will be interesting to follow the company’s progress.”
Josephine Miles, Opera Now, October 2019
